encouragement from a fortune cookie

I’m somewhat new to quilting, but I have been sewing and crafting since my teen years.

Here I will share my adventures and misadventures as I continue my quilting journey. I will also share the distractions that come with it and the distractions that keep me from it.

I have been intrigued by the idea of starting a blog for years, probably since the first time I saw the movie Julie & Julia. However, I could never settle on a topic. I first started thinking about this idea over 6 months ago.  After contemplating it for a month or so, I concluded that it just was not the right time.  Too much stress at work dealing with computer related stuff, why inject other computer related stuff into my free time.  So, I put the idea, and any notes I had made about it, aside.

The idea resurfaced near the end of September.  I don’t remember what triggered it.

Not long ago, my husband and his father went out for lunch and had Chinese food.  My father-in-law did not want his fortune cookie, so my husband brought both his and my father-in-law’s home to me.  He told his dad that I like to read the little slips inside the cookies.  I opened one of the cookies.  It said “Don’t be afraid to take that big step.”  A few days later I signed up with WordPress and picked a name.

I had thought about blog names six months ago. This was one of the names I had contemplated back then.  It seems to fit the way life feels. Now here I am.

Hi!

Welcome to Sew Many Distractions. I have so many distractions – quilting, sewing, crocheting, and a few others. Sometimes a distraction from the busyness of life is just what is needed to be ready to tackle it anew. Take a break and join me.
