This is my fifth quilt top, but my first flannel quilt.
I finally got the quilt top done and dropped it off for quilting (I haven’t worked my way up to doing that part yet). It won’t be ready for the baby shower, but I’m hoping to have it back and have the binding on before I get to meet my great-niece, in-person, for the first time.
It’s bigger than a baby quilt. I want her to be able to use it for a long time. I used the “Polo” pattern from Villa Rosa Designs (the same one mentioned in a previous blog post). This is my first quilt top using flannel. I made some adjustments for seam allowances. (Some day, I’m going to make this pattern according to the directions!) My research shows that there may be some debate as to whether a 1/2” seam allowance (as opposed to a 1/4” seam allowance) is necessary on flannel quit top or not. On something that may be laundered frequently, I decided to err on the side of caution and made adjustments for a larger seam allowance.
What about you? Have you made any flannel quilt tops? What seam allowance did you use?
